Ray Boyer is a communications consultant working with clients in the private and nonprofit sectors. He specializes in communications planning, with particular skill in media relations. For eight years he was head of public affairs for Williams College, one of the nation’s finest liberal arts colleges, followed by four years as assistant dean for external relations at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. From 1991 through 2004 Ray was head of public affairs for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, leaving to set up his own firm, Boyer Media.
In addition to his current work with foundations and universities on communications planning, he designed and participates in implementation of the public relations strategy for Chicago Innovation, the Chicago region’s major annual recognition of innovative new products and services. Recent work also includes projects to advance the improvement of public education, build understanding of mental health issues, and to expand the arts in public education.
